THE FIRST CHRISTMAS
I was a shepherd in the desert,
T' was a cold winter’s night.
When a chorus of angels filled the sky;
Oh what a beautiful sight!
They told of the birth
Of a new baby boy.
The Messiah! they sang
With great rapture and joy!
Then they all disappeared,
All their singing ceased.
It was dark once again
Except the star in the East.
We started our journey
Knowing not what to do.
We followed the star
It just had to be true!
We walked and walked
And walked some more.
We reached a small town,
Our feet were quite sore.
Finally we found a
Small stable with hay,
Where sheep, cows, donkeys
And horses lay.
And then, at that moment
We heard a small cry.
And we found the small babe
In a manger nearby.
We fell to our knees
And worshipped him dearly.
The birth of this king
We shall celebrate yearly!
